MoS inaugurates Technology Centre at Devanahalli, Bengaluru

NEW DELHI, SEP 11, 2026: MINISTER of State for the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, inaugurated the Technology Centre (TC) at Devanahalli, Bengaluru, Karnataka, on 10 September 2026. The inauguration ceremony was graced by senior officers from the Ministry of MSME, Government of India; Government of Karnataka and representatives from industry and other local stakeholders. The inauguration ceremony also featured an exhibition showcasing the contribution of Indian MSMEs to the Aerospace & ESDM Sectors.

The Ministry of MSME operates a Nation-wide network of Technology Centres (TCs) to foster an enabling environment for MSMEs which will enhance their technological capabilities and competitiveness. Over the years, these Centres have contributed significantly in technology development, industry-grade training, design, prototyping, testing & production support to MSMEs.

The Minister of State for MSME, Sushri Shobha Karandlaje, conveyed her best wishes on the inauguration of the Technology Centre (TC), Bengaluru, and welcomed students, industry associations and other stakeholders to the new centre.

She said, "The centre will serve as a hub for training, manufacturing and nurturing young talent. The network of Technology Centres run by the Ministry of MSME are playing an important role in developing young minds and providing them with industry-oriented skills." She also announced that the next Technology Centre is coming up in Belagaum, Karnataka at a cost of Rs 178 crore.

Emphasising the importance of entrepreneurship, the Minister encouraged students and young innovators to pursue startups and contribute to the country's growth. She said the Ministry is focused on enabling students to study, train and develop their skills to contribute towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat.

She further noted that after agriculture, the MSME sector is a major contributor to the Indian economy and stressed the need to further strengthen its contribution to the nation's growth.

Bharat Khera, Secretary, Ministry of MSME, Government of India, highlighted the recent amendments to the MSMED Act, 2026 to further benefit the MSMEs. He highlighted the significance of TC Bengaluru as a major initiative for nurturing talent and building industry-ready skills. The centre is expected to train around 10,000 trainees every year, providing them with advanced technical skills and opportunities to contribute to the growth of the MSME sector.

Dr. Rajneesh, Additional Secretary and Development Commissioner, Ministry of MSME, outlined the growth in MSME sector. With over 9.4 crore registered MSMEs contributing 31% to the Indian economy and generating employment of over 41.6 crore, he described MSMEs as the engines of growth. He highlighted the measures taken to facilitate access to finance and access to technology for MSMEs. The Technology Centre at Bengaluru is the latest addition to the network of TCs established by Ministry of MSME across India.

He highlighted the significant progress made by the Ministry in recent years, including initiatives such as TReDS, the Credit Guarantee Scheme, and various other programmes aimed at strengthening the MSME sector.

He also explained the contribution of Technology Centres across India in providing technological, production and advisory support to MSMEs and providing industry-oriented training to the youth.   

The TC Bengaluru has been developed by the Ministry of MSME, Government of India with an investment of Rs 156 crore on a 10-acre land parcel provided by the Government of Karnataka. Focus Sector of the centre is Electronics System Design & Manufacturing (ESDM). The Centre being equipped with state-of-the-art machines and labs, will provide MSMEs access to advanced technologies such as Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) Line, additive manufacturing, CNC 5 Axis and 3 Axis machines, Electric Discharge Machine (EDM), etc.

Dr Rajneesh mentioned that the Technology Centre, Bengaluru, will serve as a key institution for strengthening the MSME ecosystem in the electronics and aerospace sectors by offering advanced design, prototyping, production, training, and consultancy services. The Centre will play an important role in providing state of the art technology support in to MSMEs in electronics and system design manufacturing (ESDM). It will help generating employment, nurturing skilled talent, and promoting sustainable livelihoods not only in Karnataka but also to MSMEs across India.
