Scindia commends C-DOT Scientists, Researchers and Young Officers

NEW DELHI, AUG 26, 2026: JYOTIRADITYA M. Scindia, Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region along with Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development and Amit Agrawal, Secretary, Department of Telecommunications and Chairman, Digital Communications Commission, graced the 43rd Foundation Day of Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) with other senior officials, industry representatives and distinguished guests.

The Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT), the premier telecom R&D centre of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications, Government of India, celebrated its 43rd Foundation Day yesterday at Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, New Delhi. The occasion marked 42 years of C-DOT's contribution to the development of indigenous telecom technologies since its establishment in 1984.

The Foundation Day exhibition was inaugurated by Jyotiraditya M. Scindia and Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani. The products showcased at the exhibition, provided an opportunity to demonstrate C-DOT's indigenous technologies and solutions across various domains of telecommunications. The dignitaries were thereafter briefed on the various indigenous telecom technologies and solutions.

The Ministers also unveiled the Quantum Products Wall, showcasing C-DOT's Quantum Series of products including the indigenous Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC) solutions developed to strengthen the security and resilience of India's communication networks in the emerging quantum era.

During the inaugural session that followed, a Quantum Product booklet, a consolidation of C-DOT's indigenous quantum solutions, was also launched by the Ministers and senior dignitaries. The booklet presents C-DOT's work in Quantum Key Distribution (QKD) and Post-Quantum Cryptography (PQC), highlighting the Centre's efforts towards developing secure, resilient and future-ready communication technologies.

Addressing the gathering, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia said, "It's indeed an honor for me to present on the 43rd Foundation of an organization that is truly embedded into the lives of every single citizen in our country which is part of the DNA of this institution. I always say that we were behind the world in 4G, we walked with the world on 5G, but it is due to organization such as C-DoT that yesterday, Government of India and every proud Indian can say that we will lead the world in 6G."

The Minister also said that, "Yesterday on the 43rd Foundation Day of C-DoT, I would like to dedicate it to my young friends seated in this auditorium. It is you that epitomize the thirst for innovation, invention and being able to cross boundaries with indomitable courage and capability. Out of this large family here, over 50% of you are below the age of 30 and that is the demographic bulge and dividend that this organization enjoys"

Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani said, "Congratulations to all bright researchers, engineers and scientists for the 43 years of C-DoT since its foundation. The legacy of C-DoT as I describe is of Indian ingenuity, technological self-reliance and service to the nation. C-DoT is the centre of India's technological confidence. The kind of work you do, is not anything similar to what many companies, service organizations do and in my view probably, it's the best work anybody can do in this world."

The Foundation Day celebrations were organised around a day-long conference themed "Beyond Connectivity: Secure, Trusted and Intelligent Communication", bringing together senior government officials, industry leaders, technology experts and academia to deliberate on emerging technologies and the evolving communication landscape.

The technical conference featured sessions on three critical areas central to the future of telecommunications: Cybersecurity, 6G Communications and Quantum Secure Communications. The Cybersecurity sessions featured Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu, and Mandar Kulkarni, National Security Officer - India and South Asia, Microsoft. The 6G sessions brought together Prof. Chandra R. Murthy, IISc Bengaluru; Prof. R. David Koilpillai, IIT Madras; and A.K. Mittal, DG, TSDSI. The Quantum Secure Communications sessions featured Prof. Rupamanjari Ghosh, Expert Committee Member, National Quantum Mission; Prof. Prem Kumar, ECE, Applied Physics, Interim Chair, ECE Department, Northwestern University, USA; and Ashish Kumar Mishra, DDG, NCIIPC. The sessions concluded with key takeaways and observations shared by Dr. Pankaj Kumar Dalela, EVP, C-DOT, for the Cybersecurity segment and Dr. Dilip Krishnaswamy, EVP, C-DOT, for the Quantum Secure Communications segment.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Rajkumar Upadhyay, CEO, C-DOT, said, "C-DOT's journey over the past 42 years has been driven by its commitment to developing indigenous technologies for the nation. As telecommunications move beyond conventional connectivity, our focus is expanding towards secure, trusted and intelligent communication systems. Through our work in cybersecurity, quantum-secure communications, 6G and other emerging areas, C-DOT remains committed to strengthening India's technological self-reliance and contributing to the development of globally competitive telecom technologies."

Over the years, C-DOT has played an important role in India's telecom transformation, working across areas including rural connectivity, BharatNet, 4G and 5G technologies, cybersecurity, disaster management, next-generation networks, Artificial Intelligence and network management systems. C-DOT has also been undertaking exploratory research in 6G and other emerging areas, contributing to India's vision of becoming a global technology leader.

The 43rd Foundation Day celebrations showcased C-DOT's commitment to advancing indigenous research and innovation and contributing to the development of a secure, trusted and future-ready digital communications ecosystem. As it enters its 43rd year, C-DOT continues its research and development efforts in 6G, quantum-secure communications and other emerging technologies, in line with the vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat and India's ambition of positioning the country as a global leader in next-generation, trusted connectivity.
