'Friends of MY Bharat': A New Global Youth Connect launched

NEW DELHI, AUG 20, 2026: THE Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, through MY Bharat, is strengthening its engagement with Indian-origin youth across the world through 'Friends of MY Bharat', a dedicated digital module announced by Raksha Khadse, Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs & Sports, during the BRICS Youth Summit 2026 in Gandhinagar. The initiative will provide Indian-origin students, young professionals and other youth living outside India with information on various nation-building activities, volunteering initiatives and youth-led programmes hosted on MY Bharat, irrespective of their geographical location. It aims to channel their ideas, skills, experiences and aspirations towards India's development journey.
The event was attended by Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Harsh Sanghavi, Member of Parliament Dr. Hemang Joshi, Additional Secretary, Department of Youth Affairs, Nitesh Kumar Mishra, along with youth leaders from BRICS and partner countries.
The module will enable global Indian youth to register as a 'Friend of MY Bharat' and share information about their Youth Clubs or Associations, including their activities and areas of engagement. It will also provide information on various volunteering opportunities across areas such as education, environment, health awareness, disaster relief and cultural preservation, allowing young people to various social initiatives running in the country.
A dedicated 'Know Your India' section will help global Indian youth deepen their connection with the country through curated content on India's culture, heritage, history, tourism, travel and prominent leaders. The module will also showcase major MY Bharat initiatives and programmes of national significance, creating greater awareness about India's youth-led development journey and encouraging wider global participation.
'Friends of MY Bharat' represents an important step towards building a sustained global youth engagement ecosystem, enabling Indian-origin youth to remain connected with India and contribute to its development from wherever they are in the world. It seeks to bring together the energy, ideas, skills and aspirations of global Indian youth in the larger journey towards Viksit Bharat.
