CMPDI celebrates 51st CIL & CMPDI Foundation Day

NEW DELHI, NOV 22, 2025: CMPDI, a Mini-Ratna Company, celebrated the 51st Foundation Day of Coal India Limited and CMPDI 20th November with full fervor at CMPDI, Ranchi.
The Chief Guest, Sanjay Seth, Minister of State for Defence, Government of India, remarked in his address that completing 50 years is an extraordinary milestone for Coal India and CMPDI. He emphasized that high-quality R&D and continuous innovation have been key to CMPDI achieving this landmark. He also commended the promptness and dedication with which CMPDI has been meeting the nation's energy needs since its inception. He further said, CMPDI is making significant contribution in achieving PM Narendra Modi ji's vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 and target of Net Zero Emissions by 2070.
N. C. Jha, Former Chairman of Coal India Limited and Special Guest of Honour, praised CMPDI for its contributions and emphasized the need for the organization to adopt Information Technology more effectively and diversify its services to remain relevant in the evolving landscape. He urged CMPDI to enhance and strengthen its Business Development department to tap into the vast opportunities emerging in the mining sector.
Manoj Kumar, Former CMD of CMPDI, stated that CMPDI must align its services with the nation's vision of Viksit Bharat and its Net-Zero targets. He added that CMPDI is fully prepared to seize the emerging opportunities to meet the country's growing energy needs.
Satish Jha, CMD, CMPDI (Additional Charge) & CMD, ECL in his address, highlighted major achievement of CMPDI in the last one year and said that to remain relevant in a rapidly changing global landscape, CMPDI must now diversify aggressively beyond coal. It needs to advance into Critical and Rare Earth Elements (REEs), clean energy solutions, and adopt advanced technologies such as AI/ML and smart mining to enhance productivity and efficiency. This strategic transition is not merely an opportunity but a necessity for CMPDI to sustain its leadership and innovation in the decades ahead.
Sanjay Seth, along with other distinguished dignitaries, presented corporate awards to the Departments and Regional Institutes of CMPDI in recognition of their outstanding performance across various operational domains during 2024-25.
