NEW DELHI, OCT 31, 2025: UNION Minister for Agriculture & Farmers' Welfare, and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, yesterday inaugurated the National FPO Conclave 2025 in Delhi. The event saw the participation of over 500 progressive farmers, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), Implementing Agencies (IAs), and Cluster-Based Business Organizations (CBBOs) from 24 states and 140 districts across India.

Addressing the gathering, the Union Minister lauded the efforts of farmers, FPO members, and participating institutions, calling upon them to transform farmers from producers to entrepreneurs and traders so that the full benefit reaches them directly.

Chouhan conveyed gratitude on behalf of farmers to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his unwavering commitment to protecting their interests and emphasised that agriculture is vital for both livelihood and national food security. He said, "Our focus is on integrated farming for the benefit of farmers. Relying solely on grains will not suffice; allied activities must be promoted to enhance farmers' income."

Expressing concern over price disparity, Chouhan stated that farmers often do not get fair prices for their produce, while consumers pay more. "This gap must be reduced," he said. The Union Minister announced that the government will soon introduce a Seed Act to ensure farmers receive high-quality seeds. He added that the government is taking strict action against counterfeit seeds and pesticides and will introduce stringent legislation to protect farmers.

Calling on farmers to move towards value addition, the Union Minister said, "Farmers should not remain only producers but become entrepreneurs through agriculture. Processing and value addition will increase their income."

Chouhan urged FPOs to work seriously for the welfare of small farmers and share practical suggestions with the ministry, assuring that suitable actions will be taken. He appealed to FPOs to increase turnover within a year, expand membership, and enhance credibility and quality to ensure maximum benefit to member farmers.

At the inauguration held at NCDC and NCUI premises in Hauz Khas, Delhi, the Union Minister also felicitated outstanding FPOs, CBBOs, and implementing agencies for excellence in organization, business, and digital innovation.

Grand Exhibition of Agricultural Products

A total of 267 FPOs showcased cereals, pulses, oilseeds, fruits, vegetables, organic, processed, and traditional products at the exhibition held at NCDC premises. The Union Agriculture Minister visited 57 stalls, interacted directly with farmers, appreciated their innovations, and encouraged them to embrace technology, markets, and new ideas.

Technical Sessions and Panel Discussions

The event featured multiple technical sessions and panel discussions on topics including oilseed production, water use efficiency, natural farming, Agricultural Infrastructure Fund, honey production, digital marketing, AGMARK certification, and seed production. These sessions saw participation from agricultural experts, industry representatives, and farmers.

Boost to Farmer Entrepreneurship and Market Linkages

A dedicated platform was created for interaction among FPOs, farmers, buyers, and sellers, paving the way for new market opportunities for rural entrepreneurs. The conclave aims to empower farmers as producers, providers, and partners, marking a historic step towards inclusive and innovative agricultural growth.

This significant event stands as a strong example of Minister-Farmer dialogue, promoting FPO products and exchange of new ideas, benefitting farmers across the country.
