HCC-KEC JV wins Rs 1,147 cr Chennai Metro Phase 2 order

CHENNAI, MAY 13, 2021: HINDUSTAN Construction Company (HCC) in a joint venture with KEC International Consortium (KEC), has been awarded Rs. 1,147 crore contract to construct the 7.95 km elevated viaduct section and nine stations of Chennai Metro Rail’s Corridor 4.
The second phase of the 118.9 km Chennai Metro has also seen work orders issued to Larsen and Toubro (L&T) and Tata Projects for construction on major underground and elevated packages along the line.
The scope of work involves civil works, architectural works, plumbing and drainage and temporary services.
Tata Projects will construct two twin bored tunnels from Venugopal Nagar (of Line-5) to Kellys Station and stations structures of Madhavaram Milk Colony Station, Murari Hospital Station, Ayanavaram Station and Purasaiwakkam High Road Station.
L&T’s contract extends from Kellys Station to Taramani Road Junction, along with the station structures of Chetpet station, Royapettah Government Hospital Station, Thiruvanmiyur Station, and part diaphragm wall of Greenways Road Station.
The HCC-KEC JV will construct nine elevated stations at Chennai Bypass Crossing, Ramachandra Hospital, lyyapanthangal Bus Depot, Katupakkam, Kumanan Chavadi, Karayan Chavadi, Mullai Thottam, Poonamallee Bus Terminus, and Poonamallee Bypass.
