NTPC Bongaigaon plays important role towards clean and green Kokrajhar

ASSAM, FEB 26, 2021: TODAY NTPC Bongaigaon and Kokrajhar Municipal Board have joined hands for a Clean and Green Kokrajhar. As a part of its CSR initiative, 2000 Bamboo Dustbins were formally distributed by Shri Pramod Boro, Chief Executive Member, BTR as a part of "I love Kokrajhar" Campaign across various shops and business hubs of the city. In a function organised at the Kokrajhar Municipal Board office premises, Shri Pramod Boro in his address highlighted the importance of cleanliness in Kokrajhar and highlighted that Kokrajhar District Administration, Municipal Board, and NTPC have an important role towards clean and green Kokrajhar. Shri Boro underlined various steps towards beautification of the Bodo Territorial Region and appealed to the public at large for the support and cooperation.In his address, Shri Bhaskar Phukan Deputy Commissioner, Kokrajhar appreciated the efforts of NTPC and Kokrajhar Municipal Board towards the sustainable and eco-friendly initiative. Shri Phukan also lauded the efforts and support of NTPC Bongaigaon during the COVID-19 lockdown period. It is pertinent to mention that NTPC and Kokrajhar Municipal Board jointly took part in this initiative during COVID-19 pandemic when many migrant labourers have returned to their respective hometown due to lockdown. To help the returning labourers with certain engagement, these Eco-friendly bamboo dustbins have been procured from an NGO named "Jankalyan NGO" who engaged the returning Labourers with an employment cost to make Kokrajhar a sustainable city.
