SEBI asks for scanning of accounts held by Ugandan national notified by UNSC

NEW DELHI, FEB 20, 2020: THE SEBI has directed all registered intermediaries to take note of the recent MEA direction on UN Security Council sanction imposed on Ugandan national Seka Baluku.
Such a direction has been issued under its Guidelines on Anti - Money Laundering (AML) Standards and Combating the Financing of Terrorism (CFT) / Obligations of Securities Market Intermediaries under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002 and Rules framed thereunder.
SEBI has asked for scanning of all existing accounts to ensure that no accountant is held by or linked to any of the entities or individuals included in the UN list and also ascertain the same for future accounts as well.
