NTPC enters wind arena; commissions first wind turbine in Gujarat

NEW DELHI, APR 05, 2017: NTPC, the largest power company in the country, commissioned its First wind turbine of 2 MW at Rojmal Wind Power Project (50 MW) in Gujarat on April 3rd, 2017, thereby marking its  presence in five areas of power generation i.e. coal based, gas based, hydro, solar and now wind. NTPC is steadily adding to its renewable portfolio.  In FY17 NTPC's Koldam Hydro Station achieved highest ever generation of 3.225 BUs. Solar stations achieved highest ever generation of 527 MU. NTPC's first high efficiency 800 MW unit at Kudgi in Karnataka was also commissioned during the year.

Unit#2 of 250 MW of Bhartiya Rail Bijlee Company Limited (BRBCL- a subsidiary of NTPC Limited) has also been commissioned on April 3rd, 2017. With this, the commissioned capacity of NTPC Group now become 50750 MW.

NTPC Standalone generation crossed 250 BUs and NTPC Group generation crossed 276 BUs in FY17. NTPC's coal stations achieved a PLF of 78.6%. Nine coal stations clocked highest ever generation - Rihand, Vindhyachal, Sipat, Farakka, Kahalgaon, Barh, Bongaigaon, Mouda, NTECL-Vallur in FY17.

Company added 13,395 MW during 12th plan, exceeding the capacity addition target of 11,920 MW.  3,520 MW of new capacity was added in FY17 including 510 MW new solar capacity.

NTPC became a 50,000+ MW company on March 31st, 2017. Has started coal production from its first mine at Pakri Barwadih  dispatching Over 1 Lakh tonne coal so far.
