NTPC crosses milestone of 50 GW power generation capacity

NEW DELHI, APR 04, 2017: NTPC, the largest power generator of India has joined the top league of electricity generators globally by crossing 50GW capacity mark, which marks a leading step in realizing India's dream for 24X7 affordable Environment friendly Power for All. Expressing his happiness on NTPC's achievement Union Power Minister twitted – Proud to announce that NTPC has crossed 50,000MW of installed power generation capacity. Another milestone towards 24X7 power for all.

With commissioning of 500 MW unit at Unchahar in Uttar Pradesh the total installed capacity of NTPC has now risen to 50498 MW. NTPC as an integrated power major has remained committed to affordable power for the consumers through sustainable power generation.

NTPC a Maharatna  and the largest power utility in the country plays a major role to meet the power needs of the country thus contributing to its economic and social development by contributing nearly 24 % of country's generation. NTPC has a vision to be the World's Leading Power Company, Energizing India's Growth. NTPC has  19 coal based, 7 gas based, 10 solar PV, one Hydro and 9 Subsidiaries / Joint Venture power stations. Company has capacity of over 21,000 MW  under implementation at 23 locations across the country including 4300 MW being undertaken by joint venture's and subsidiary companies. NTPC's First coal mine  Pakri-Barwadih at Hazaribagh is now operational. First wind power project of NTPC- Rojmal Wind Energy Project 50 MW is set to come up in the State of Gujarat.
