NEW DELHI, AUG 30, 2017: THE NITI Aayog Three-Year Action Plan released by the Union Finance Minister recently has suggested that all key stakeholders including various Ministries should work collaboratively to fully implement the key objectives of IPR Policy in 2016 by 2020. It has suggested that they should work towards Outreach and promotion of IPR Awareness; stimulating IPR Generation; Legal and Legislative Framework; Commercialisation of IPRs and Human Capital Development.
It has noted that a strong intellectual property regime is one of the key factors that encourages and incentivises innovation in a country. The Indian Government has demonstrated its commitment in this regard by launching the National Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Policy in 2016. It is encouraging to see that implementation is already under way with the launch of “IPR Enforcement Toolkit for Police and IPR Awareness Campaign for Children” in January 2017.
