Money market to welcome new bank note of Rs. 200 denomination

NEW DELHI , AUG 24, 2017: The currency regulator, Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is scheduled to introduce new bank note of Rs. 200 denominations in the Money market tomorrow. This will be the first bank note in the Mahatma Ghandi series with a signature of RBI Governor, Dr. Urjit R. Patel.
The base colour of the note is Bright Yellow. The note has other designs, geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme, both at the obverse and reverse.
The new denomination has Motif of Sanchi Stupa on the reverse, depicting the country's cultural heritage. Introduction of a new currency denomination and design is done keeping in consideration various factors like ease of transactions for the common man, replacement of soiled banknotes, inflation and the need for combating counterfeiting.
