RBI to issue fluorescent blue Rs 50 notes with many new features

MUMBAI, AUG 19, 2017: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) will soon issue new Rs. 50 denomination banknotes in the Mahatma Gandhi New Series, to continue the drive of Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi in draining all illegal cash from the economy.

With fluorescent blue as its base colour, the new notes will bear the picture of the iconic stone chariot at Hampi on the reverse, depicting the country's cultural heritage. The new note has other designs, geometric patterns aligning with the overall colour scheme, both at the obverse and reverse and will measure 66 mm x 135 mm.

All the banknotes in the denomination of Rs. 50/- issued by the Reserve Bank in the earlier series will continue to be legal tender.
