SEBI launches portal for registration of custodians of securities

MUMBAI, AUG 10, 2017: The Union Finance Minister, while presenting the Budget 2017, had announced that the process of registration of financial market intermediaries will be made fully online by Stock Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

The Markets regulator SEBI yesterday said that it has introduced an online registration mechanism for Custodians of Securities to make it convenient for them to do business. The new system would help custodian of securities to complete registration and other regulatory filings with Sebi much faster and in a cost-effective manner.

It has now been decided to operationalize SEBI Intermediary Portal for the applicants to submit the applications for registration as a Custodian of Securities.

The Custodian of Securities seeking approval as Designated Depository Participant (DDP) shall also apply through this portal. The aforesaid online registration system for Custodians of Securities and approval as DDP has been made operational with immediate effect.
