NEW DELHI, JULY 07 2017: The Cell for IPR Promotion and Management (CIPAM), under the Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP) launched the "Scheme for IPR Awareness – Creative India; Innovative India". The scheme looks at taking the National Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Policy 2016 forward.
The scheme is aimed at raising Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) awareness amongst students, youth, authors, artists, budding inventors and professionals, so as to drive them to create, innovate and protect their creations and inventions across India. The scheme would be operational in Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 cities as well as rural areas in the next 3 years. The implementation of such scheme would involve conducting over 4000 IPR awareness workshops & seminars in academic institutions (schools/colleges) and the industry, including MSMEs and Startups. The scheme also seeks to provide Intellectual Property training and sensitization programmes for enforcement agencies and the judiciary. The workshops would cover all vital Intellectual Property topics such as international filing procedures, promotion of Geographical Indications and highlighting the ill effects of piracy and counterfeiting.
